I had the opportunity to design the cover for The King's Coronation WW issue which used the toolkit for this event. Although, the Weekend cover is quite templated, for special occasions like this, there was opportunity to break out of this template whilst following crucial guidelines. I experimented with colour, placement & layout, as well as changing up the Weekend masthead to make the cover own-able to the King's Coronation.
Whilst having the chance to design the cover, I also had the opportunity to design a couple of the marketing pages inside.
In terms of the recipe spreads, being able to design the layout for the shoot I was on was useful as I already had the understanding of why the crop guides were what they were. This brief allowed me to get used to the template and copy and using other areas such as the CC library for additional elements which are consistent throughout the paper. I also prepared the crops for use in AEM for digital platforms. It was important to crop the recipe images differently to fit the different widths to suit the frame and the contents inside.
