The strawberry shot for the food and drink opener is the shot I was lucky enough to art direct. As the opener is always ingredient orientated and is always something seasonal which is featured in at least one of the recipes inside, we had the opportunity to be creative in terms of composition and photography. I found an interesting reference image where the strawberries were cut and arranged in a flower roundel. It was interesting to see how even tough the shot only consisted of a single ingredient, it took us nearly 2 hours to shoot (strawberries kept slipping and it was a case of trial and error regarding where each strawberry was and if it needed adjusting) Arguably, standard recipe shoots would take much less time (preparation and production) Attending these shoots has made me realise the amount of time, effort and manpower required for every shot.
